Please join us for worship with Holy Communion
every Sunday at 10 am in person or via Livestream!
We ask that persons who are recovering from an illness wear a mask in worship to protect everyone’s health. If you test positive for COVID-19 after worshiping with us or attending an event, please contact the church office, (540) 951-1000 so we may safeguard the health of our community.
Coffee fellowship and monthly birthday celebrations take place on select Sundays - please check the calendar.
Luther Memorial has two parking lots - one off of Tom’s Creek Road and another off of Prices Fork Road. If you park in the Prices Fork lot you can enter the worship area through either the Fellowship Hall or the front doors facing Prices Fork Road. If you park in the Tom’s Creek lot, you can enter the building through the Christian Education wing. Please continue through the building and take the elevator at the end of the balcony or go down the stairs to arrive at the worship area.
As you arrive for worship, you will be welcomed by a greeter. If you have any questions or require any special assistance (such as a hearing device or a seat with high intensity lighting), please ask the greeter or an usher for assistance.
Children are welcome in worship! On select Sundays Pastor Monica gives a children's sermon.
We provide activity books & crayons for children to use in the sanctuary. If you need to comfort your child, we provide a quiet room off the Sanctuary where you may listen to worship.
Our worship service averages one hour in length. Lutherans sing and pray using the Lutheran Liturgy and hymns; we hear Scripture readings and a sermon; we pray together; and greet one another in the Peace of Christ before we receive Holy Communion as the Body of Christ. Guests may participate in all or some of these worship activities, as they choose.
We gather as God’s people around the Table of our Lord Jesus. In the sacrament of Holy Communion, we encounter the Risen Jesus who gives himself to all, for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus makes no restrictions at his Table and neither do we: everyone is invited to participate, including young children. You may choose to receive a pastoral blessing instead of Holy Communion. Pastor Monica offers Holy Communion instruction for people of all ages.
Christian Education classes (Sunday School) meet on Sunday mornings during the academic year. We also offer several adult Bible studies and classes during the week, including online classes. Click here for more information on our Faith Formation program.
The church office is located in the smaller of the two buildings off of the Prices Fork Road parking lot. The entrance is identified by a canopy marked “OFFICE.” The office is staffed from 9 am - 4 pm Monday through Friday. The office is closed for all federal and Commonwealth of Virginia holidays. Pastor Monica observes Monday as her Sabbath day each week.
Pastor Monica is available to accompany you on your faith journey through Pastoral Counseling, Spiritual Direction or with information about the Christian faith, the Lutheran denomination, and Luther Memorial’s faith community. Please contact Pastor Monica at pastormonica@lmlc.org.
