During Spring Break, students from The Well left after church service on Sunday to drive 6 hours to Charleston SC. We met up with Lutheran Students of Appalachian (Appalachian State and Lees-McRae campus ministry) and stayed at a rented house that was only a short walk to the beach. That night, we enjoyed each other's company while getting to know everyone over dinner.
Over the next four days, we worked with Habitat for Humanity to start construction on a new house. We arrived every morning at 8:30 am and started out cementing and adding layers of cinder block for the perimeter of the foundation. We raked and shoveled the surrounding area to get rid of all unnecessary debris, and by the end of the week, we were laying down tarps and nailing in support beams.
But, with some hard work came some fun. After returning from the worksite at around 3 pm, we had the chance to go to the beach, swim in the (COLD) ocean, or jump in the (COLD) pool. Monday night, we all enjoyed a low country boil for dinner, with sausage, shrimp, corn, and potatoes. On Tuesday night, we got to get dressed up and go out to a steak dinner, and on Wednesday night, we enjoyed downtown Charleston, with dinner on the water, and a ghost tour to finish up the night.
We all packed up to leave Friday morning, and ended the trip with worship on the beach. It was an amazing week! We all grew closer in our friendships with one another and further developed our faith. Thank you so much to our campus minister, Rachel, and the campus minister of LSA, Deacon Stacey, for organizing a fantastic trip! We also want to thank the congregation for all of your prayers and best wishes! To God be the glory! ~Abby Hall, Secretary of The Well

Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me,
and the God of peace will be with you.
