A message from Pastor Monica:

Jesus loves you just as you are, and we at Luther Memorial welcome you in the same way. We are a Lutheran Reconciling Works congregation dedicated to serving the world through outreach and social justice advocacy, to proclaim the love, acceptance and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to all people, without exception. We don't seek to change you: you're already a beloved child of God. But we invite you to be transformed by God's love and free gift of grace, through vibrant worship and music, fun and fellowship, passionate Bible Study and Christian faith formation, and dynamic campus ministry.

Come worship with us on Sundays at 10am and feel the transformative power of God's presence and love alive within you.

Peace to all here,

Rev. Monica Weber, Pastor,

Luther Memorial Lutheran Church

We Welcome Nita Smoot

Our Director of Music Ministry

Nita obtained a Master of Church Music/Organ Pedagogy (faculty Honors Award) degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY and a Bachelor of Music, Church Music/Organ (cum laude) degree from Belmont University, Nashville, TN.

Nita has been organist/choir director and music director of several Lutheran, Episcopalian, Methodist, and Baptist congregations throughout the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic region; her most recent position was as organist/choir director of Ascension Lutheran Church, Danville, VA.

In addition, Nita has extensive experience directing/teaching children in preschool and school systems.  She has taught/directed children through adult ages in studios, public and private schools, and in colleges.

Nita Smoot firmly believes that sacred music has a vital role in our corporate worship experience.  Its role is to enhance our worship experience and not to be a ’performance’ and she welcomes the opportunity to be part of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church’s worship service and ministry.
